The Killers to play OXEGEN
  • LAS Vegas rockers The Killers will perform at this year’s OXEGEN, it was exclusively revealed today. At the official festival launch in Dublin, the band confirmed they would be headlining the main stage on Sunday July 8 2007.

    Scorsese finally gets Oscar glory
  • NEW York film director Martin Scorsese was named Best Director at last night’s Oscars for his Irish-American mob drama The Departed.
    Scorsese, who had missed out on the gong on five previous occasions, was presented the award by his peers Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas. Scorsese said he was "overwhelmed" as he clutched his award and asked: "Could you double-check the envelope"?
